Leisure Park Distribution Equipment Upgrade

ESE Ltd have recently been awarded the contract to carry out upgrade works on the high voltage electrical distribution equipment on a UK Leisure Parks.

Working closely with the client, ESE Ltd were able to carry out the electrical revamp works outside of seasonal working hours. This ensured that no disruptions to site occurred. The Main Incoming substation from the DNO had become outdated, with a Suspension of operation placed on the equipment. The decision was made to change this equipment, giving complete control of the distribution network back to site.

The existing outdoor substation contained three Long & Crawford oil filled switches, along with a close coupled local Transfomer. ESE Ltd were able to remove the oil switches from site in an environmentally friendly way and recycle accordingly.

Due to the location of site and the proximity to the sea, it was decided that the new equipment would be housed within a new purpose built GRP substation. ESE Ltd installed a new four panel Eaton Xiria switchboard to feed the local transformer and existing substations. A New ESE Tier One transformer was also installed to replace the existing transformer.

The new equipment will provide reliability and stability to the electrical distribution network for many years to come. The park has now been re-energised and is ready for the new holiday season.
