Engineered Systems (Electrical) Ltd have recently been awarded the contract to carry out upgrade works on the high voltage electrical distribution equipment on UK Leisure Parks.
Working closely with the client, ESE were able to carry out the electrical revamp works, outside of seasonal working hours to ensure no disruptions to site occurred. The Main Incoming substation from the DNO had become outdated with a Suspension of operation placed on the equipment. This Drove the decision to change this equipment and give complete control of the distribution to site.
The existing outdoor substation contained a bank of three Long & Crawford oil filled switches, along with a local Transfomer with a close could Long & Crawford T3GF3. We were able to remove the oil switches from site in an environmentally friendly way and recycle accordingly.
Due to the location of site and the proximity to the sea, it was decided that the new equipment would be housed within a new purpose built GRP substation. ESE installed a new four panel Eaton Xiria switchboard to feed the local transformer and existing substations. A New ESE Tier One transformer was also installed to replace the existing local transformer.
The new equipment will supply reliability and stability to the electrical distribution network. The park has now been re-energised and is ready for the new holiday season.
