ESE Ltd attend site to an emergency breakdown for Seashore holiday park, Great Yarmouth.
The Emergency Maintenance team attended site within four hours to carry out the initial investigate on the faulty transformer. Due to the age of the switchgear feeding the transformer, and restrictions in place upon it, a full site isolation was required.
Working in conjunction with UK Power Networks, site was fully isolated in the early hours of the morning to cause minimal disruption to site. The equipment was safely isolated and post fault maintenance was completed on the switchgear. It was found that the switchgear was clear of any fault and that the fuse protection had operated.
The remaining equipment on the holiday park was re-energised, with the affected fuse switch isolated and earthed. The oil was then drained from the transformer and the High Voltage links were disconnected.
The fault was located in the high voltage old type bitumen filled termination box. ESE Ltd removed the front cover of the termination box, to find a there was void from incorrect filling, during the original installation process. The termination box was replaced with a new dry type air box and the 11kV cable was through jointed, terminated and tested. Again, working with UK Power Networks, the whole site was isolated in the early hour of the next day, to reinstate the isolated transformer.
The site General Manager was extremely happy after completion of all work and gave us some great feedback!
